Baby booties

Many friends are having babies and it's such an amazing, life-changing event, a hand-made card is a good way of marking the occasion.  I've always thought baby shoes are really cute because they're so small: even better are baby booties!

 

Needlework

I love all things hand-sewn or hand-stitched: they give a feeling of comfort and cosiness while at the same time giving scope for self-expression or creativity.  I made these using buttons saved from old clothes and ends of embroidery thread left over from my days of making friendship bracelets.

Mosaics

I love mosaics, whether ancient like the ones uncovered in Pompei and Herculanum, or more modern, such as Gaudi's mosaics in Barcelona.  Here are some mosaic cards using a combination of colours I particularly like.

Polka dots

I often recycle scraps of paper, packaging, old photos, etc. by using them in my cards.  These cards were made with small pieces of coloured paper left over from previous projects and old photos.  

I like using polka dots in my designs: they are fun, will never go out of fashion and are versatile!

Congratulations!

This is the wedding season and another time when a hand-made card can make your message more personal.  I made and used this design for two special weddings I attended this summer.  The bottle and champagne spray are embossed which I think gives a pleasing texture to the card.
